KC Group are recruiting a Debt Recovery Officer
on behalf of a leading public sector organisation.
This is a temporary opportunity offering an hourly rate of £14.14 per hour PAYE (Umbrella available), working full-time, Monday to Friday, with a hybrid working pattern of 4 days per week from home.
Are you an experienced debt recovery or collections professional with strong customer service skills? We're looking for a Debt Recovery Officer to support the recovery of outstanding debts, engage with customers to agree payment arrangements, and ensure effective income collection while delivering a customer-focused service.
Key Responsibilities of the Debt Recovery Officer role:
- Managing a caseload of outstanding debts and ensuring timely recovery action.
- Contacting customers by telephone, email, and correspondence to discuss arrears and payment options.
- Negotiating payment arrangements and monitoring adherence to agreed plans.
- Investigating customer accounts and resolving account queries.
- Maintaining accurate records and updating debt recovery systems.
- Providing advice and support to customers regarding payment options.
- Liaising with internal departments and external agencies where required.
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.
To be considered for the Debt Recovery Officer role:
- Previous debt recovery, collections, credit control, revenues, or income recovery experience.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience handling sensitive or challenging conversations professionally.
- Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
- Customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.
- Public sector or local authority experience would be advantageous.

- 6-month temporary contract.
- Full-time, Monday to Friday.
- 9:00am - 5:00pm with flexibility for an earlier start.
- Hybrid working arrangement with 4 days per week from home.
