The concept
Just moments from Victoria station, The Idler is a neighbourhood restaurant for whatever the day calls for.
A breakfast spread before sightseeing or a leisurely lunch between meetings. Dinner before the theatre. A cocktail after a long day. Or simply a place to settle in and stay awhile.
The menu is made for sharing, grazing and gathering, with seasonal dishes and plates that suit every occasion.
The drinks list follows suit, from a glass of wine at lunch to cocktails and pre‑dinner aperitivos that carry the evening a little further.
For guests staying at The July, it's an easy extension of home.
For locals, corporate diners and theatre‑goers alike, it’s a familiar table to return to, punctuated by reliable, efficient and friendly service.
The Job

Working closely with the General Manager, you’ll lead the full F&B operation and play a key role in creating a restaurant that feels alive where guests feel genuinely looked after, teams feel supported and service feels natural rather than scripted.
You’ll be leading from the floor, building culture, driving performance and making sure the operation runs smoothly day to day.
Alongside the guest experience and team leadership side of the role, you’ll also take ownership of the financial performance of the business including budgeting, forecasting, cost control and helping drive revenue and profitability.
We’re looking for someone who understands that a successful restaurant is about more than great service alone.
Someone who can confidently balance people, operations and commercial performance to help the restaurant continue to grow and succeed.

- Confident in analysing performance and making decisions that positively impact both service and financial results
- Hands‑on, energetic and comfortable leading from the floor
- Someone who creates an environment where both guests and teams thrive
- This role would suit someone excited by building something special, not just maintaining it
- Key Accountabilities
- Being the key leader of the service team, effectively managing the team and driving revenue, quality and standards
- Responsibility for leading, inspiring and motivating the team to achieve loyalty and retention
- Ensuring the supply chain is effectively implemented and controlled in keeping with the concept and in line with The July brand and its foundations
