For our restaurant The Idler near London Victoria Station, we are looking for a Restaurant Manager. We’re proud to be recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces 2026 by Great Place To Work, reflecting the people, energy and culture we build together every day.
The concept is nestled in the heart of London, where time slows down, but your ambitions are still welcome. Enjoy small plates crafted to energize you without disrupting your flow, and let our drinks guide you from midday inspiration into a leisurely evening. Our restaurant will be a place for breakfast and all-day dining, serving an all-day food menu that consists of creative and high-quality dishes to share (or not), with a playful spin on British Classics.
The Job involves taking full ownership of our F&B operation and helping shape the experience, energy, and performance of the restaurant every single day. You’ll lead the full F&B operation, creating a restaurant that feels alive where guests feel genuinely looked after, teams feel supported, and service feels natural rather than scripted. You’ll be leading from the floor, building culture, driving performance, and ensuring the operation runs smoothly day to day.
Alongside guest experience and team leadership, you’ll also take ownership of the financial performance of the business including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and helping drive revenue and profitability. We’re looking for someone who understands that a successful restaurant is about more than great service alone, balancing people, operations, and commercial performance to help the restaurant continue to grow and succeed.
The Restaurant Manager must have:
- The motivation and leadership skill to represent The July and its international connections.
- Previous experience as a Restaurant Manager within a premium high-volume quality restaurant.
- A keen eye for detail to ensure delivery of the standards.
- A proven track record of recruiting, developing, motivating, and retaining a high-performing service team.
- A strong personality, with confidence and enthusiasm to lead the team in the day-to-day running of the restaurant.
- Exceptional communication skills – verbal and written – to ensure clear communication within the team.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively manage relationships at all levels.
- Strong financial understanding of a P&L.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Being the key leader of the service team, effectively managing the team and driving revenue, quality, and standards.
- Responsibility for leading, inspiring, and motivating the team to achieve loyalty and retention.
- Ensuring the supply chain is effectively implemented and controlled in keeping with the concept and in line with The July brand and its foundations.
- Effective management of the beverage margin within the targets.
What’s in it for you?
- In addition to a competitive salary, you are entitled to Tronc (Service Charge).
- 30 days holiday including bank holidays.
- Me-Time/Community Day: Enjoy a dedicated day for self-care and another day of community engagement.
- Medical Cash Plan Scheme to support your everyday healthcare needs.
- Free access to our hotel gym and sauna.
- Pension scheme from day one.
- Group Life Insurance.
- Personal Growth: We want to invest in your personal and professional growth through personalised training opportunities.
- Perkbox: Benefits platform with hundreds of different free perks, discounts, and vouchers.
- Recommend a Friend Scheme: Receive £500 for every successful hire you refer.
- Hotel & restaurant perks: Enjoy daily closing drinks, exclusive employee rates for stays at hotels, and a Friends & Family Rate.
- Team drinks, events & outings to remember!
