For our restaurant The Idler near London Victoria Station, we are looking for a Restaurant Manager!

The concept

Nestled in the heart of London, our location is more than just a restaurant or bar; it’s a mindset that embraces balance between work and life. Here, time slows down, but your ambitions are still welcome, because we believe life is too short to be busy without purpose. Enjoy small plates crafted to energize you without disrupting your flow, and let our drinks guide you from midday inspiration into a leisurely evening. Our restaurant will be a place for breakfast and all day dining. The kitchen and bar are working together very closely since there is an open kitchen bar that runs through the restaurant. The restaurant will be serving an all day food menu that consists of creative and high quality dishes to share (or not). The all day dining menu plays tribute with a playful spin on British Classics where dishes are uncomplicated, true to their ingredients and have a real punch on British produce. Next to a restaurant and bar, the location offers three 8 pax meeting rooms and a Deli.

The Job

We’re looking for a Restaurant Manager who’s full of energy and loves working with people. You’ll be running the day‑to‑day of the restaurant, making sure everything flows, the team’s happy, and the guests are having the best experience possible. This is a proper hands‑on role — you’ll be on the floor, leading from the front, and setting the tone. You’ll take real ownership of your space, with the freedom to make decisions, try new ideas, and drive results. From sorting rotas and keeping an eye on budgets, to working closely with other departments, you’ll be a key part of how everything comes together. Most importantly, you’ll build, support, and develop your team — keeping them motivated, confident, and enjoying what they do.

The Restaurant Manager must have

  • The motivation and leadership skill to represent The July and its international connections.
  • Previous experience as a Restaurant Manager within a premium high‑volume quality restaurant.
  • A keen eye for detail to ensure delivery of the standards.
  • A proven track record of recruiting, developing, motivating and retaining a high performing service team.
  • A strong personality, with confidence and enthusiasm to lead the team in the day to day running of the restaurant.
  • Exceptional communication skills – verbal and written – to ensure clear communication within the team.
  • Ability to multi‑task and effectively manage relationships at all levels.
  • Strong financial understanding of a P&L.

Key Accountabilities

  • Being the key leader of the service team, effectively managing the team and driving revenue, quality and standards.
  • Responsibility for leading, inspiring and motivating the team to achieve loyalty and retention.
  • Ensuring the supply chain is effectively implemented and controlled in keeping with the concept and in line with The July brand and its foundations.
  • Effective management of the beverage margin within the targets.

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive salary, depending on your experience.
  • Attractive benefits package, including an attractive bonus scheme, pension and health care.
  • Personal Growth: We invest in your personal and professional growth with personalised training opportunities.
  • Me‑Time and Community Day: Enjoy a dedicated day for self‑care and another day of community engagement.
  • Hotel & restaurant perks: Enjoy daily closing drinks, exclusive employee rates for stays at our hotels and a Friends & Family Rate, so you can share the joy with your loved ones. Besides our own locations we also offer the Hotel Employee Rate, where you can explore the world with discount rates for other hotels.
  • Team drinks, events & outings to never forget!
