The Accounting Director is responsible for leading and overseeing the organization’s accounting operations to ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting. This role serves as the primary accounting expert and a key partner to the VP of Business and Finance, supporting sound financial management and informed decision‑making.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate audits, prepare required documentation, and assist auditor(s).
- Monitor cashflow, forecast funding needs and present strategic initiatives.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, bank accounts, and investment accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Lead the budgeting and financial processes.
- Complete governmental and accreditation surveys and reports.
- Reconcile and recommend scholarship allocations.
- Reconcile and monitor investment accounts (especially Endowment accounts) and make investment suggestions.
- Work with the Bookkeeper/Bursar in allocation of funds received and/or disbursed, also follow‑up on student accounts.
- Review monthly Credit Card expenditures: amounts and activity.
- Assist with financial policies, vendor contracts, and donor‑restricted funds oversight.
- Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for the VP of Business and Finance.
- Proactively identify financial risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities, and recommend improvements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Compensation:
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000. Hours: 32-40. Benefits: Medical insurance, $15,000 term life policy, and 401K retirement program.
Qualifications:
The Accounting Director will preferably possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and have several years of experience in accounting. A professional demeanor and appearance are required, as is a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and evidence of a Christian lifestyle and must ascribe to Trinity College’s Statement of Faith.
