About the role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to play a key role in promoting a positive, informed and preventative culture of health, safety, wellbeing and compliance across JRF. Working closely with our external Health & Safety partner, you will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of our health and safety framework, ensuring compliance arrangements remain effective, proportionate and aligned with legislative requirements and organisational needs.

This is a varied and influential role where you will manage and develop JRF's Health & Safety Management System, oversee audits and inspections, support incident investigations, monitor performance and provide meaningful reporting and insight to leadership teams. You will also chair the Health & Safety Forum, helping to drive engagement, accountability and continuous improvement across the organisation.

In addition, you will support JRF's environmental compliance responsibilities, including regulatory submissions and sustainability initiatives, helping us further develop our environmental and ESG ambitions whilst ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. As part of a small and collaborative Workplace Team, you will contribute to wider workplace projects and support the delivery of high-quality workplace services when required.

About you

You will be an experienced health and safety professional with a passion for creating safe, compliant and supportive workplaces. A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent health and safety qualification. Significant experience within a health and safety, compliance, governance, risk or assurance environment. Expert knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice.

  • Experience developing and implementing compliance frameworks, policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Experience managing audits, inspections, investigations and risk assessments.
  • Experience producing management information, assurance reports, dashboards and performance indicators.
  • Membership of IOSH, IIRSM or another relevant professional body.
  • Experience chairing health and safety forums.
  • Knowledge of fire safety, contractor management and workplace compliance requirements would be advantageous.

Please submit your CV and supporting information via our online application platform. The closing date for applications is Monday 28th September 2026. Interviews will take place on Tuesday 7th October 2026. We reserve the right to bring the closing date forward should enough quality applications be received prior to the current closing date.

Additional Information

Applications are welcome from all, regardless of age, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race, sex, sexual orientation, trans status or socioeconomic background. In support of our approach to flexible working, we are happy to receive applications from those seeking full-time employment, as well as those who may want to share the role on a part-time basis.

When making your application, please state whether you want to be considered for either full or part-time work and, if part-time, the number of hours per week you would be looking for. At JRF we're at our best when we're continually building on trust, showing we care and making a difference and hope others will do the same.

This means you can expect to work flexibly between the office and home (with an expectation of two days a week in your home office). We are a Disability Confident Employer.
