About the role
The JRHT Landscapes department plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the outdoor spaces for the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trusts portfolio of assets and communities we manage. Our primary goal is to create, preserve and manage safe, attractive and functional green spaces for our residents while promoting well-being, community engagement, and sustainability.
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Chargehand Gardener to lead and supervise a team of gardeners in maintaining and enhancing our outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will possess advanced horticultural knowledge, leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to garden maintenance. As a Chargehand Gardener, you will be responsible for overseeing daily gardening operations, ensuring high standards of garden care, and supporting team development.

- Practical experience in advanced garden maintenance and management
- A strong understanding of horticulture, landscaping and plant care
- Previous experience leading or supervising a team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to prioritise, schedule and undertake remedial works in a fast paced environment
