Due to the intimate nature of the personal care required in this role, GOR applies and I am only able to consider female applicants. I am a tetraplegic lady looking to hire support workers to help support me with my daily needs. I am paralysed from the chest down, so must be confident with moving and handling. Previous experience would be preferred, but training can be given to the right candidate. A driving licence is essential as I have hospital appointments and like to go out for lunch, etc. I have my own vehicle suitable for me.

I am looking for flexible staff that can work days, evenings, weekends, and potentially nights. The hours are 8am - 5pm, 5pm - 10pm, and 8pm - 8am; longer shifts are available for the right candidate. Both full and part-time positions are available, and you must be able to work alternate weekends. Full training will be given. Shadow shifts are paid at £12.50 per hour; after completion, it goes up to £15.00 per hour.

You will:

  • Provide assistance with daily activities such as showering, dressing, swimming, and daily exercise.
  • Prepare meals.
  • Administer medication.
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as laundry and tidying up.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support.
  • Accompany to appointments and outings.
  • Need to be okay with dogs and care.
  • Will need to be fit and healthy due to the physical nature of the role.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a caregiver or in a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic caregiving techniques, for example: moving and handling, using hoists and slings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with calmness and professionalism.
