We are looking for an experienced part-time Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant to join our accounts team in a job share role alongside our existing Legal Accounts Assistant. This position requires solid legal cashiering and accounts experience, together with a strong understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.

  • 16 hours per week over 2 days
  • Working pattern must include either a Monday or a Friday
  • Office-based role (100% in-office)

The successful candidate will assist with a broad range of accounting and finance duties, ensuring ongoing compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and internal procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily reconciliation of client, office, and credit card accounts using the Cashroom
  • Sales and purchase ledger management
  • Invoicing and billing, including preparation and checking of completion statements
  • Processing client and office payments, CHAPS transfers, supplier payments, and transfers between accounts
  • Checking and processing consultant invoices, including commission calculations and international payments
  • Credit control and management of outstanding debts
  • Administration of the disbursement ledger, including allocations and cost transfers using the Cashroom
  • Month-end procedures and management reporting
  • Assisting with year-end audit preparation and PII renewals
  • Maintaining accurate records in compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and VAT regulations
  • Keeping up to date with SRA rules and regulatory changes
  • Managing file closing procedures and reviewing residual client balances
  • Using Clio and the Cashroom portal on a daily basis
  • Liaising with and supporting employed staff and consultant solicitors
  • Handling client queries professionally and efficiently
  • Assisting with supervision and training of junior team members

  • Confidence in managing a busy workload and dealing professionally with clients and colleagues
  • Strong IT skills and a proactive approach to learning and development
