Hours: 37.5 hours per week

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Project Manager to join our operations management team. In this role, you will lead on the planning, design coordination, safe installation, monitoring and dismantling of the Temporary Structures and associated services for the Cheltenham Festival and supporting race meetings. Ensuring they meet project objectives, statutory requirements, and industry best practice. This includes oversight of venue design, contractor and supplier coordination, site logistics and health and safety compliance. The role ensures seamless integration of operational planning with Cheltenham Racecourses broader event strategy, supporting to deliver a world-class race-goer experience.

The Temporary Structures Project Manager will

  • Oversee programme execution, resource planning and design coordination ensuring that CDM compliance and all requirements are met.
  • Manage budgets, oversee quality inspections and HSE standards chairing progress meetings with contractors throughout the build.
  • Oversee operations of the temporary structure area, including service and utilities, waste management, security, staffing and traffic management.
  • Develop detailed CAD layouts and site plans; manage document control, technical drawings, and calculations.
  • Own the end-to-end workflow for all permits and licensing processes, ensuring timely submission and approval.
  • Report to the Head of Operations on KPI’s, risks and financial performance.
  • Support the development of event H&S documents in collaboration with key Cheltenham Racecourse leads and work with the Site Manager and Health & Safety experts to ensure the relevant measures and facilities are in place to ensure efficient and safe working practices.
  • Prepare technical specs and tender packages for all required structures and other facilities on site.
  • Select and manage best in class contractors to fulfil multiple onsite roles.
  • Develop and manage plans for accreditation set up and execution.
  • Support in the planning and delivery of venue connectivity and technology requirements.
  • Conduct post event debriefs and work with the Temporary Structure site manager to ensure that the site is taken down in a safe and efficient manner,

About you

  • Experience in managing temporary structure/constructions projects ideally in large scale sports/entertainment events.
  • A sound understanding of overlay and large-scale event operational processes.
  • Strong project management and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities with experience in managing multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative professional relationships and manage internal/external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in CAD software and managing technical drawings.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety regulations and risk management.
  • An understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015), through design and project delivery phases.
  • Able to work hours as required by the business covering some evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays and including working reasonable overtime as required.
