We have a fantastic opportunity for a Training Grounds Operative to join our Jockey Club Grounds Team to carry out general and varied duties in connection with the maintenance and development of the Newmarket Training Grounds and the wider Jockey Club Estate. The role will work across Newmarket Racecourses and the National Stud when required.

The Training Grounds Operative will
- Assist with the presentation and maintenance of the Newmarket Estate to the highest standard.
- Assist with grass and hedge maintenance including using push mowers, ride on mowers and strimming.
- Set out, move, and walk grass gallops and assist with the maintenance of all-weather gallops.
- Provide training to less senior members of the team on all-weather and grass gallop maintenance
- Carry out All-weather track maintenance, including the use of a power harrow and rotavator and Turf track maintenance including the use of grass cutters, aeriation equipment and grass repair machinery.
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices in accordance with current legislation and as detailed in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and procedures.
About you
- Holds a Full driving licence and possess advanced tractor driving skills, including GPS when necessary
- Great understanding of Health & Safety legislation
- Understanding of Turf husbandry
- Relevant experience working as a Grounds Person, Ground Worker, or Farm worker.
- Ability to work on own initiative, but also as part of a team with a can-do attitude.
