About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Group Financial Controller to join or Group Finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a high impact role with responsibility for the head office financial and management accounting function, offering a unique opportunity to work at the heart of our organisation.
You will lead financial control, reporting and compliance across the group while owning the budgeting and forecasting for our head office function. Working closely with the CFO and Group Finance Director, you will ensure accurate reporting, robust compliance, and strategic alignment of budgets.
This is a 6-month fixed term opportunity – perfect for someone who’s hands-on, proactive, and ready to make an immediate impact.

The Group Financial Controllerwill
- Oversee the financial and management accounting function for the head office, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continued development of team members.
- Conduct monthly reviews of head office management accounts, identifying key risks and opportunities against budget and forecast.
- Direct the head office finance team through the forecast, budget, and five-year planning processes (beginning August through to December), partnering with group function leaders to establish clear timelines, offer guidance, and provide constructive challenge.
- Review of the group payroll budget to ensure appropriate computations of fringe costs and group recharges and insightful analysis of year-on-year movement.
- Review departmental and consolidated budget and forecast schedules for head office, including evaluation of investment options and consideration of risks and opportunities.
- Oversee interest, depreciation, and tax expense budgets and 5-year projections.x
- Review and sign off group VAT returns, corporation tax computations, and Quarterly Instalment Payment (QIPS) calculations; act as a primary contact for external tax advisors.
- Collaborate with external specialists on capital allowances and management of rollover relief to support efficient, accurate and timely 2024 and 2025 tax return filings.
- Implement process and control enhancements identified during recent Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) reviews.
- Oversee year-end group audit planning and interim phases, liaising with external auditors and preparing key deliverables in advance of year-end.
- Direct the Group Financial Accountant’s review and application of changes in accounting standards (FRS), including areas such as lease accounting.
- Oversee covenant compliance reporting for the group in accordance with debt facility arrangements.
About you
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a senior finance role, with strong financial reporting and control expertise
- Confident managing audits and mentoring finance teams
- Industry experience in hospitality, leisure, events or sport is a bonus
- Advanced Excel skills; NetSuite experience is an advantage
- Commercially minded, highly organised, and solutions-focused
- Strong communicator with integrity and a calm, hands-on approach under pressure
