Over recent years the Jockey Club Group has invested in the tools to consolidate, analyse and visualise data to drive business performance. We have successfully implemented PowerBI dashboards to provide key business reporting. The BI Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing reporting tools, turning data into information, information into insight and insight into actionable business decisions.

The BI Developer will
- Create new reports through both the formatting of existing data sources, and the construction and integration of new ones into our PowerBI gateway.
- Work with end users to scope and design PowerBI dashboards and reports with intuitive and user-friendly visualisations.
- Ensure accuracy of content and consistency of design of new reports.
- Support the wider the insights team, ensuring teams are equipped to respond quickly to ad hoc business requests for information, data and insight using the BI tools.
- Pro-actively identify opportunities and make recommendations for improvements. Scoping new reports in conjunction with end users.
- Create new reports through both the formatting of existing data sources, and the construction and integration of new ones.
- Provide training to user groups.
- Drive effective data led decision making, including the post implementation report of projects and initiatives.
- Become a subject matter expert and advocate of Business Intelligence and Insight within the company.
- Becoming an advocate of data discipline within the company to ensure continuous improvement in reporting outputs.
About you
- Strong formal planning and organisational skills.
- Detailed analytical abilities.
- Excellent communicator with an eye for detail and the ability to explain complex logic to non-technical audiences ·
- Highly numerate and excited to work with data, interpreting the numbers and translating them into actionable items.
- High level Microsoft Excel skills.
- A fast learner, willing to challenge current approach and research best practice for BI developments going forwards
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in related technical field.
- 3 + years of associated work experience.
- Proven experience of working in and writing SQL, handling large datasets, confident in navigating existing views and stored procedures, utilising joins, group bys and windowed functions to script new ones.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of working with Power BI, or similar business intelligence software.
