About the role
A fantastic opportunity for a Credit Controller to join our team at the Finance Centre, at Cheltenham Racecourse. The Credit Controller is responsible for cash collection at the Jockey Club. You’ll be proactively speaking to our customers to resolve invoice queries, enabling payment to be made on time and according to the agreed terms.
We work with several internal teams but have a close working relationship with our commercial sales teams. Building a good relationship with our teams is important when working together to provide the best customer experience, whilst taking appropriate action to mitigate any risk or potential bad debt.
The credit control team work together to ensure invoices are paid on time, in line with KPI and SLA requirements.

About our team
At the Finance Centre, we’re here to support and help the teams across the Jockey Club. Helping our racecourses to deliver thrilling events daily. At the Finance Centre, we have four key teams – Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control and Finance Support. Our teams work smart and are not fazed by high transactional volumes – each month, we’re managing and processing thousands of transactions.
The Credit Controller will
- Ensure all credit control activities have been actioned daily, maintaining individual follow-up reports and updating notes on invoices following action.
- Produce and issue monthly statements as and when required.
- Proactively chase outstanding invoices by phone/email.
- Communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders regarding outstanding debt & any non-payment issues.
- Review payment terms for new customers if required.
- Be able to identify high-risk items and follow up accordingly.
- Be familiar with Jockey Club Racecourses terms and conditions.
- Assist in the development of the credit control systems and regular reporting.
- Be familiar with internal audit procedures and comply as necessary.
