The Job People are seeking a Metallurgist Expert to join a leading manufacturer in Staffordshire. The ideal candidate will be highly process-focused, bring strong hands-on shop-floor expertise, and be capable of resolving material-variability challenges in sintered tungsten production.
Required Experience:
- Direct, hands-on experience with tungsten or tungsten heavy alloy production
- Strong understanding of powder metallurgy and sintering
- Experience diagnosing real production failures, not just lab-scale issues
- Comfort working on the shop floor reviewing furnace data and operator practice
- Ability to challenge assumptions and enforce process discipline
- Experience in foundry, heat treatment, advanced materials, or refractory metals is preferred but not essential.
Duties:
- Identify a clear root cause hypotheses, ranked by likelihood
- Identify and process sensitivities and critical control points
- Provide practical recommendations for Sintering parameter windows, Process discipline improvements, traceability or documentation gaps
- Provide support with controlled trials when required
- Prepare a short written summary suitable for management and audit reviews
