The Job People are looking for a Production Planner to work within Purchasing for a busy Horticulture Manufacturing company based in Daventry. We are looking for hardworking, enthusiastic colleagues who are willing to work long term with the opportunity to gain a full-time contract.

The Purchasing & Production Planner manages the end‑to‑end flow of materials from sourcing raw materials and packaging to planning weekly production in accordance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. The role ensures uninterrupted operations while optimising inventory, reducing costs, and maintaining compliance with REACH, COSHH, and other H&S requirements.

Previous production planning / purchasing experience is required. Must be able to read and understand English.

Shift Hours: Fixed day shift Monday - Friday 8.15am till 5pm, 40 hours per week.

Pay Rates: £14.00 per hour, opportunity to get a full-time contract.

Duties as a Production Planner in Daventry:

  • Procurement: Purchase raw materials & packaging from approved suppliers, ensuring the delivery times meet our planning schedule.
  • Production Scheduling: Create a weekly production schedule aligned with plant capacity, equipment availability, and safety.
  • Document Control: Generate internal work orders to match production schedules, ensuring all information is correct and compliant.
  • Supplier Management: Audit suppliers for quality, reliability, and compliance; manage pricing and agreements.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain optimal stock of materials, packaging, while minimising waste and shelf‑life risks. Assist with bi‑annual stock takes.
  • Quality & Safety Collaboration: Work with HSE, Quality, and Production teams to resolve deviations, contamination risks, or supply disruptions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce lead times, improve batch flow, and optimise equipment usage.

Ability to interpret forecasts, batch yields, and consumption rates. Experience with internal systems. Ability to learn new processes. Skilled in negotiating pricing, lead times, and supply agreements. Clear communicator across technical and non‑technical teams. Excellent attention to detail. Experience with Purchase order processes. Ability to work under pressure.

Experience: Experience in a planning / scheduling role. Able to use computers, excel / word / training given on in-house systems. Used to dealing with suppliers / purchase orders. Minimum of 1 year experience working in a manufacturing environment. Working experience with all Microsoft products (essential). Experience with various in‑house systems. Experience with stock management.
