3rd Line Network Support Engineer - Permanent - Basingstoke - SC Clearance

Global IT Organisation is hiring for a 3rd Line Senior Support Network Engineer for their team based in Basingstoke. This role requires 5 days onsite and SC Clearance is required for this role. Salary ranges between £55K – £60K + Bonus + Benefits.

As a 3rd Line Senior Network Engineer, you will provide operational support for a large-scale, 24/7 enterprise network spanning multiple data centers and UK-wide offices. You’ll play a key role in supporting BAU operations, managing configurations and upgrades, collaborating across internal and external teams, and supporting major project delivery initiatives. You’ll also act as a technical mentor to the 2nd line network support team, guiding them in best practices and helping grow their expertise.

Responsibilities include:

• Deliver 3rd line support and incident resolution across enterprise-level networks
• Perform complex network configuration changes and upgrades
• Support the delivery of high-impact network projects
• Collaborate with vendors, partners, and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers

Skills and Experience:

• CCNP-level networking knowledge (minimum)
• Deep experience in IP routing (BGP, OSPF, static routes, HSRP, VRF, tunneling protocols)
• Strong Layer 2 networking skills (VLANs, 802.1X, port-security, STP)
• Hands-on experience with Cisco firewalls (Firepower, ASA, ASDM, ACLs, IPSEC VPNs)
• Familiarity with Cisco Catalyst & Nexus switches, ISR/ASR routers, and Cisco ISE
• Working knowledge of network encryption solutions including Catapans
• Experience with Juniper switches and spine/leaf topologies
• Knowledge of F5 Load Balancers and Cisco ISE Appliances
