The Jays Day Care Nursery, Pre-school and Forest School is a thriving all your round day nursery with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.. As a busy nursery we are looking to grow our catering and housekeeping team.
We provide 3 meals per day, plus snacks to the children who attend our nursery. Due to recent growth, we are looking to support our cook in her role whilst also supporting the general upkeep of our nursery setting throughout the day. Kitchen duties would include food preparation, serving and clearing away.
In addition to support in our kitchen there are many other duties across the nursery that require attention across the day to ensure our childcare staff can remain present with the children in their care and to ensure that our setting is clean, tidy and well organised for the children's play and learning. This would include but is not limited to, laundry, cleaning and ordering of supplies.
Working hours for this role would need to be within the hours of 9am-3pm to cover the busiest time of day for us. Our nursery operates from 8am-6pm. Working hours would be between 3-5 hours per day, 5 days per week. This would be an all year round role but statutory annual leave can be taken during school holidays and possible reduced hours/days during school holidays can be discussed at interview.
Food and Nutrition has a strong focus here at the nursery. We carefully plan our menus to ensure that we are providing a varied and balanced diet with a particular focus on low processed and low tox ingredients and procedures,.
There may be times where this role would involve covering the cooks annual leave and in time could grow into a lead cook position. Full support would be given to fulfil these duties.
A willingness to engage with young children is essential as there may be times you would be asked to step into rooms to support childcare staff in their roles.
No specific training or experience is required as all the necessary training can be provided.

The Jays Nursery is situated just outside of Ivybridge, on the outskirts of Bittaford and Moorhaven. This can be accessed via the 80 bus route between Plymouth and Paignton.

The Jays Nursery is open 8am-6pm Monday - Friday all year round. Working hours within this.
All staff are subject to disclosure and barring services (DBS) checks. DBS update service would be advantageous.
