Main Purpose of Job

We are seeking self-motivated individuals to join our seasonal staff to assist the Farm Team at the Dundee site of the James Hutton Institute. Working in a squad of 10 seasonals you will assist our Field Manager and Field Trials Officers with manual tasks necessary to deliver field trials work and wider farm or estate maintenance objectives.

Successful candidates will be expected to work as part of the team 8am – 4-30pm core hours and with flexibility to start work early/finish later to complete goals during suitable weather windows as required – overtime and holidays provided.

Main Duties of Postholder

  • erecting and covering polytunnels
  • hand hoeing/hand weeding
  • handling and emptying trays or bags with trials material
  • pruning
  • rouging commercial field areas
  • digging fruit for transplanting, or potting up & transfer of material from glasshouse to field/tunnel
  • hand harvest of potatoes from August/September
  • fruit maintenance and other crop husbandry as required
