Ivy House Nursery is a co‑educational nursery for children aged 2 to 4 years and is looking for a Maternity Cover Nursery Assistant to join in September 2026. The Nursery Teaching Assistant will work alongside the Nursery Teacher to meet the daily needs of the children while providing Early Years Education.

Key Responsibilities
  • To have a thorough understanding and knowledge of child development
  • To implement the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • To provide a warm, caring, and stimulating environment for the children to work in
  • To demonstrate a thorough knowledge of safeguarding children
  • To understand what constitutes good health and safety practice
  • To provide an environment free from sexual and racial stereotyping
  • To contribute to children’s Early Years Profiles
  • To build strong links with parents and liaise with parents as required
  • To work effectively as a team and give support to colleagues
  • Preparation, maintenance, and tidying up of all equipment areas within the school, inclusive of outdoor areas
  • Openness to undertake domestic jobs within a nursery setting, such as the cleansing of equipment
  • Taking children to the lavatory and to deal with accidents if required
Ideal Candidate
  • Has an NVQ Level 3 Qualification
  • Experience of working in Early Years in a school environment
  • Has exceptional interpersonal skills whilst relating with other staff, childcare professionals, pupils, and parents
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Good written, verbal, and non‑verbal communication, especially with young children
  • Ability to interact with children and support their involvement in a range of activities such as outdoor play
  • Experience of maintaining written reports of children’s achievements and observations of their progress
  • Ability to work with parents or families
