Location: Isle of Wight College (Newport Campus)
Salary: £29,609 – £35,276 per annum (£14,804.50 – £17,638.00 pro rata dependent on experience)
Contract: 19.5 hours per week, permanent
AMarket Supplement may also be available for this position. This is an additional payment that may be made to you in addition to your salary above, which is reviewed annually.
About The Role:
To deliver high-quality and engaging Science teaching across a range of programmes within the College’s growing STEM provision. This includes the Level 3 Forensic and Criminal Investigation qualifications, Level 2 Applied Science, GCSE Biology (Adult provision), and Science delivery supporting the Health and Social Care T Level. The post holder will play a key role in maintaining teaching quality and learner experience across both 16–19 and adult pathways, ensuring students develop a strong foundation in scientific knowledge and skills. This role supports the continued expansion of Science and Health-related curriculum areas and is essential to sustaining planned growth, meeting timetabling demands, and upholding academic standards within the department.
Key responsibilities:
- To plan and deliver lessons to a range of classes, maintaining a high-quality student learning experience
- To formally assess, giving appropriate feedback (written and oral) and maintaining records of students’ progress and development
- Undertaking academic tutorial duties, supporting students on an individual basis through academic difficulties
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Level 2 Qualifications in English and Maths
- A Level 3 Qualification in a relevant subject, or be willing to work towards
- A Degree/HND or equivalent vocational/professional qualification in criminology or forensic science is desirable, but not essential
- Be able to work under pressure, to be organised and prioritise own workload to meet deadline
