As a leading sailing charity, UKSA aims to remove both financial and social barriers to enable students from any background to access our programmes by providing funding for those who need it. UKSA are now looking to recruit an ICT apprentice to support their vision by strengthening their internal IT capacity. This apprenticeship offers a great opportunity to start a career in ICT while gaining an industry recognised qualification.

Overview of the role

As an ICT Apprentice you will provide first‑line technical support across UKSA, helping to maintain smooth day‑to‑day operation of systems, hardware, networks, and digital services. This apprenticeship offers hands‑on exposure to a modern IT environment, working alongside the IT Manager, Digital Partner/Systems Analyst, and Managed Service Provider, to support staff, improve user experience, and develop skills across core technical areas. Full training will be provided for you to:

  • Respond to staff IT support requests and resolve routine technical issues.
  • Troubleshoot software problems, connectivity issues, login/access challenges, and basic hardware faults.
  • Assist with general system maintenance and routine updates.
  • Prepare and configure equipment for staff, including laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Support asset inventory management and equipment audits.
  • Help with data‑related tasks, such as organising files, assisting with SharePoint or cloud storage housekeeping, or updating documentation.
  • Support rollout of new software tools, applications, or processes.
  • Assist with ongoing digital improvement activities (system upgrades, user‑training resources, onboarding materials).
  • Contribute to internal documentation, user guides, and knowledge‑base updates.

Qualifications Required

  • GCSE grade C/4 or above, or equivalent in English & Math is essential for the nature of the role.
  • Apprenticeship Information Communications Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship.
  • 21 to 24 Month Apprenticeship Programme.

Alongside your practical daily work, you’ll take part in off‑the‑job training hours—dedicated time within your working week to develop your knowledge, skills, and behaviours through any new/online learning.

Working Week

  • 30 hours per week.
  • Wage £10.85 per hour.

Interview and Start Date

  • Interviews will take place on 3rd of June 2026.
  • Anticipated start date for the role will be 1st of July 2026.

Additional information

Once qualified and dependent on needs of the business at the time of apprenticeship completion, there may be the potential to grow within the company and become part of the workforce as a permanent employee.
