About You

You are a highly skilled Senior Frontend Engineer who thrives on turning complex ideas into elegant, performant, and intuitive user experiences. You enjoy partnering with designers, backend engineers, and ML specialists, and you’re confident communicating technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

You have strong experience delivering high-quality web applications end-to-end, and you’re excited by defining tooling, frameworks, and best practices for a growing frontend function. You value documentation, accessibility, and thoughtful UI/UX. You stay curious, keep up with modern frameworks and trends, and are enthusiastic about contributing to projects involving real-time interfaces, desktop/PWA builds, visualising complex graph structures, or AI-driven capabilities. About The Team

You’ll join a small but growing Frontend Engineering team within our wider Software Development and AI function. We are a collaborative, cross-functional group working to build intelligent, data-driven products across web, desktop, PWAs, and browser extensions. About The Role

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will design, build, and optimise high-quality user interfaces across our data-driven applications. You’ll work with designers, backend engineers, and ML teams to create seamless, performant, and visually compelling experiences. This role suits someone who enjoys solving complex UI challenges and helping shape the frontend capability as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain modern, performance-focused frontend applications across web and desktop platforms.
• Develop and optimise reusable UI component libraries for consistency and efficiency across products.
• Translate UX wireframes, prototypes, and design concepts into accessible user interfaces.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs and manage data flows for end-to-end experiences.
• Establish and champion best practices in coding standards, architecture, documentation, and frontend processes.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain quality, scalability, and maintainability.
• Implement testing strategies using Jest, Cypress, or Playwright to support robust releases.
• Ensure interfaces are accessible and meet WCAG standards.
• Diagnose and resolve complex UI issues, including performance bottlenecks and browser inconsistencies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting new tools and approaches to enhance developer experience and product quality.
• Work on innovative projects involving real-time updates, data visualisation, and AI/ML feature integrations.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

Senior frontend engineer with strong technical ability and a mindset to shape a growing engineering function.

Essential Experience & Skills

• 6+ years in a Senior Frontend or equivalent role.
• Strong HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, ES6+ expertise.
• Deep experience with modern UI frameworks (React preferred; Svelte or similar considered).
• Experience building scalable, data-rich applications and managing complex state.
• Experience developing reusable component libraries or contributing to design systems.
• Proficiency with RESTful APIs and backend integration.
• Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and implementation.
• Familiarity with testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright for unit and E2E testing.
• Strong debugging skills for performance and browser issues.
• Comfortable in fast-paced, iterative environments with cross-functional teams.

Security Clearance Requirements

Eligibility for Security Check (SC) clearance is required; right to work in the UK and five years UK residency with limited absences will be assessed.
