ITIA OVERVIEW
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) is an independent body established in 2021 by International Governing Bodies of Tennis (WT, ATP, WTA and Grand Slams) to promote, encourage, enhance and safeguard the integrity of professional tennis worldwide. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The role covers both (i) data protection/contracts and (ii) case management, all within the Legal department on approximately a 50/50 work split between the two areas. Specifically, this means supporting the Data Protection Legal Counsel on various data protection matters including DSARs, LIAs, TRAs and taking the lead in completing ITIA data sharing agreements (DSAs) with data and betting companies across the globe. It also means fulfilling the case management function on disciplinary anti-corruption cases with support from the (Disciplinary) Legal Counsel when needed during very busy times or on complex matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Paralegal:
- Supporting the Data Protection Legal Counsel on DP and contractual matters as required
- Drafting LIAs and TSAs with support as necessary
- Coordinating the response to DSARs across the business
- Rolling out, negotiating and completing the above mentioned DSAs
- Updating, tracking, and managing all DSAs using a data contracts Smartsheet/database
- Keeping and managing a repository of all completed DSAs
- Briefing the Data Protection Legal Counsel on progress and escalating issues where appropriate
- Case Management:
- Ensuring online case filing is up-to-date and that Hearing Officers and all parties have access
- Ensuring arrangements are made for physical or virtual hearings (with assistance from Business Services department)
- Acting as a conduit for communications between Hearing Officers and parties
- Providing other assistance as Hearing Officers may request to ensure the orderly and efficient management of cases
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with sanctions including working with Finance team on fine payment and the Education team on educational return requirements
- Maintaining the case diary and case tracker
- Ensuring data protection compliance in consultation with the ITIA Data Protection Legal Counsel
- Together with the other case manager, prepare Board reporting statistics and case summaries
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
You will (essential):
- Have some data protection, GDPR, and contracts knowledge and experience
- Be able to work on multiple DSAs at any one time
- Have excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Have strong organisational and project management skills and be methodical in approach
- Be adept at managing a busy caseload
- Be highly-organised, expert in standard office IT systems and have excellent attention to detail
- Be diplomatic and accustomed to building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Be fluent in English to legal professional level
Desirable (but not essential):
- An interest in tennis/sports integrity
- Experience of investigations/compliance matters
- Languages other than English
