The International Institute for Strategic Studies is looking to recruit a Graphic Designer to work with the Design department. This position will report to the Head of Design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in typesetting across multiple publications and create presentations.
  • Design assets and artwork for use across social and digital channels.
  • Proof files and send them to print as required.
  • Work with researchers to design stimulating graphics, transforming data sets into exciting content.
  • Support with the research and implementation of new tools, and help develop our digital style guide.

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in design - digital, graphic or product.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Suite (AfterEffects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Strong skills in storyboarding creative narratives, producing proof of concept visuals, layout, typography, and infographic creation demonstrated through your portfolio.
  • A thorough understanding of social media platforms and their visual language.
  • Portfolio showing sharp, clean approaches to animation and data visualisation across different devices.
  • Design experience implementing 'digital-first' solutions from start to end.
  • Comfortable experimenting with and learning how to use new software and other tools.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working for clients in the political, government, or non-profit sector and an interest in and understanding of security and geopolitical issues.
  • Skills and passion to work with existing in-house print designers and in-house data development/html coding role.
  • An understanding of designing for new digital projects, working with in-house teams on UI and producing relevant digital assets.
