An exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced individual to join the Board of the International Dispute Resolution Centre Limited (IDRC) as the company continues with its national and international growth and develops and builds upon its existing services. IDRC is interested to hear from any individual who meets the INED Role Profile criteria with a high-level skillset and experience of maritime dispute resolution, governance, business operations and future growth.

The successful individual will join a motivated Board of Directors who strive to provide world leading facilities in the dispute resolution sector. They will have the necessary skills, experience and reputation to promote the organisation and guide the Executive. They will have the ability to form independent opinions, listen and give respect to their fellow directors, and contribute to board discussions and the decision-making process. Directors should discharge their fiduciary duties whilst trusting in the executive team to maintain the high level of service provided to users.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Commitment to IDRC and its objectives.
  • Experience and knowledge in Maritime Dispute Resolution.
  • The ability to contribute to the growth and development of the company.
  • The skill to represent and promote IDRC to external stakeholders.
  • The availability to attend meetings in London and/or online, and represent IDRC at occasional events, as appropriate (approximate total of 10 days per annum).

Desirable

  • Management and leadership skills.
  • Experience of corporate risk management.
  • Knowledge of dispute resolution processes.
  • Experience of organisational development.
  • Previous Board level experience.
  • Pre-existing relationships within the dispute resolution sector.
Term and Time Commitment

The Board of Directors normally meet up to four times each year. Independent Non-Executive Directors may be appointed for a maximum of two terms of five years. Directors may serve on or lead other IDRC sub-committees, which normally meet in advance of each Board meeting. Current Board sub-committees are: the Human Resources and Remuneration Committee (HRRC), the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARC), and the Nominations Committee.
