The Institute of Ismaili Studies is seeking a motivated and adaptable Preparatory Programmes Coordinator to join the Preparatory Programmes and Academic Skills Team within the Department of Education. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting international students in achieving their educational goals. The role focuses on coordinating and teaching on online preparatory programmes that build the academic and linguistic skills of prospective graduate students, particularly from the Middle East and Central and South Asia. The position involves programme coordination, curriculum development, teaching, and collaboration with international partners, with occasional overseas travel required.
What you’ll do:
- Coordinate online postgraduate preparatory programmes across priority countries including Afghanistan, Iran, Russia and Syria.
- Design, deliver, and enhance curricula, teaching materials, and assessments to prepare students for postgraduate study in the UK.
- Train and coordinate a distributed team of paid and volunteer teachers supporting online programmes.
- Support inter-institutional training and develop relationships with external academic partners.
- Manage Moodle and other digital learning platforms to enhance teaching quality and student engagement.
- Contribute to student recruitment, admissions processes, and academic support activities including advising and research supervision support.
What you bring:
- Master’s degree and CELTA/TESOL (or equivalent TEFL qualification).
- Experience teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or academic skills in higher education to students whose first language is not English.
- Programme coordination experience within academic or international education settings.
- Strong knowledge of online learning tools such as Moodle, Zoom, Padlet, and similar platforms.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage complex programmes and competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal academic English and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse international contexts.
