About the role: The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Editor to join the Ismaili Heritage (IH) team within the Department of Academic Research. Reporting to the Head of Ismaili Heritage, the postholder will copy-edit, proofread, and prepare a wide range of academic and non-specialist content for print and digital publication. This includes books, blogs, database entries, bibliographies, reports, and other publications relating to Ismaili and wider Shi'i and Islamic heritage. Working closely with authors, editors, publishers, and other stakeholders, the role will help ensure that all publications meet the highest editorial and scholarly standards.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced editor with a passion for language, publishing, and Ismaili heritage to contribute to the work of a globally respected academic institution.
What we're looking for:
- An MA in Islamic Studies or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience copy-editing and proofreading academic texts from submission through to publication.
- Knowledge of book production processes and Arabic and/or Persian transliteration.
- Excellent attention to detail, with strong organisational and communication skills.
- Experience working with publishing platforms and collaborative tools such as Google Docs, Slack, and Trello.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to producing high-quality academic publications.
