Hart District Council is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Conservation Officer to support the delivery of our heritage and conservation service. The applicant will get involved in providing proactive heritage advice on a variety of projects and initiatives, helping to ensure that the District’s historic environment is conserved and enjoyed for future generations.
Working closely with the Conservation Officer and Development Management team, you will contribute to the Council’s statutory responsibilities relating to listed buildings, conservation areas and other heritage assets by providing specialist advice on Listed Building Consent applications, planning applications affecting listed buildings and proposals affecting Conservation Areas. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career heritage professional looking to develop their skills and build a career in the conservation of the historic environment.
Key requirements:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in conservation, planning, architecture or related discipline
- Member of, or working towards membership of, the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC)
- Some knowledge of the English planning system relating to heritage and building conservation
- Experience of IT particularly MS Office (Word, Outlook)
- High standard of written and oral communication
- Strong customer focus
