Duration: Fixed Term, Full Time 1 Year Maternity Cover

Job Purpose/about The Role

This post is part of the Masterplanning, Design and Conservation Team dedicated to giving effective, consistent historic environment advice within the development management planning process. The postholder will;

  • carry a caseload of planning and related applications related to the historic built environment.
  • provide specialist advice on the impact of development proposals on listed buildings, conservation areas, and other historic assets.
  • contribute to the review of conservation area appraisals and management plans.
  • respond to consultations on local and national heritage policy matters and
  • assist in the preparation and review of conservation policies, supplementary guidance and procedures. working closely with other design and conservation professionals there will also be the opportunity to contribute to other areas of work such as planning briefs and funding bids etc.

  • Ability to work well with colleagues to achieve objectives.

The Post Holder Needs To Hold As a Minimum

Planner

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Planning, Built Heritage Conservation, Architecture or a related discipline (e.g. History, Surveying, Urban Design etc);
  • Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or equivalent membership of another appropriate professional institute (e.g. IHBC).

Planning Trainee

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Built Heritage Conservation, Planning, Architecture or a related discipline (e.g. History, Surveying,, Urban Design etc);
