This is a broad and impactful role with primary responsibility for Direct Tax compliance, alongside exposure to wider tax matters across the Group. Working closely with the Senior Group Tax Manager, you’ll take ownership of compliance activities, lead on ad‑hoc projects, and act as a trusted tax advisor to the business as Gymshark continues to grow internationally.
What you’ll be doing
- Manage global corporate tax compliance, operating with strong attention to detail and sound professional judgement.
- Work with a high degree of autonomy, prioritising and managing multiple workstreams effectively.
- Line manage a Tax Executive, delegating work, coaching development, and supporting progression.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external advisers and tax authorities.
- Lead responses to tax enquiries and manage audits where required.
- Proactively monitor new and emerging tax legislation and assess its impact on Gymshark.
Direct Taxes
- Oversee preparation and submission of UK and overseas corporate tax returns.
- Prepare filings in‑house where appropriate and manage work performed by external advisors.
- Ensure accurate end‑to‑end tax accounting under IFRS and FRS102, including review of disclosures and calculations.
- Support transfer pricing strategy, calculations, and documentation, ensuring policies are applied effectively.
- Manage capital allowances and R&D claims with external advisors as required.
- Prepare high‑quality group tax cash‑flow forecasts.
- Identify tax risks and cash‑saving opportunities, leading initiatives to manage or realise them.
- Manage communication with HMRC and overseas tax authorities.
- Support external audits by providing accurate and timely tax documentation.
- Assist with future compliance obligations, including Country‑by‑Country Reporting and Pillar 2 readiness.
Other Taxes
- Collaborate with the wider Tax Team to support employment tax obligations, including PAYE Settlement Agreement reporting.
- Review of ledgers for Benefits in Kind and associated risk identification.
- Support with off‑payroll worker reviews and contract variations.
- Tax treatment of employee benefits across international locations.
- Short‑Term Business Visitor reporting.
- Global Mobility tax reporting.
What we’re looking for
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience at Manager level, either in practice or in‑house.
- Strong specialist knowledge of Direct Taxes, with a working awareness of other tax areas.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercially minded and pragmatic, with a strong grasp of tax risk management.
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and solve problems under pressure.
Preferred Skills
- Strong IT skills and an interest in using technology to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
- Previous in‑house tax experience.
- Working knowledge of NetSuite, SAP, or Alteryx.
Why join us?

This role offers real ownership, exposure to senior stakeholders, and the chance to develop both technically and commercially in a supportive, forward‑thinking environment. This is a hybrid role and would require the successful candidate to attend at least 3 days a week at our HQ in Solihull.
