The Wordsworth Inn in Grasmere is preparing to open its doors, and we’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team and be part of an exciting new chapter from day one. With 55 bedrooms, 196 internal covers and 148 external covers, this is a substantial, food‑led operation with ambitious plans, located in the heart of Grasmere. Whatever your role, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to creating exceptional guest experiences and help establish The Wordsworth Inn as a destination known for outstanding hospitality.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Manager you will be key to supporting the General Manager in ensuring that our Inn feels like a home away from home for our guests. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a key role in leading the team, managing daily operations, and creating a welcoming and efficient environment for both staff and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily duties, leading the team to deliver company standards and managing the Inn’s day‑to‑day operations
  • Handle shift operations in a busy, fast‑paced environment and conduct administrative tasks
  • Liaise with chefs, management, and suppliers – including stocktake, ordering, and accounts management
  • Be available for occasional overnight duties and guest responses
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the team to achieve impactful results

Qualifications

  • Strong background in food and hospitality
  • Passion for customer service
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and manage a team
  • Hands‑on, approachable leadership style
