Independent Studio is Independent Media’s end-to-end talent-led development, production and distribution studio, creating new IP in video, podcasts, and newsletters for every screen and platform. Launched in April 2025, it brings together standout creators, acclaimed journalists and trusted voices across news and politics, culture, sport, travel and more. The role and the team: Following the launch of Independent Studio at the start of 2025, we’re looking for an experienced Executive Producer to join the team at a time of exciting growth. Reporting to the Creative Director this is a hugely exciting senior role in a fast-growing media company, perfect for a producer who excels at high-level strategy but is deeply invested in the delivery of best-in-class productions. You’ll be working across our slate of shows, including, but not limited to, In The Room, Strong Like Mum and Witness with Bel Trew.

About you: An experienced exec with a proven track record for crafting compelling content across a variety of mediums. Highly organised; you’ll be happy working across multiple productions and will take the lead on ensuring our projects are delivered to deadline and on budget, troubleshooting any issues with the producers of our shows. Someone with granular focus; you know that the difference between "good" and "great" lies in the details. A strong leader; you’ll have the ability to steer complex, high-pressure productions to completion while maintaining a calm, authoritative presence. A true polymath; you’re obsessed with culture – from politics, to entertainment, television, podcasts, magazines, literature, and social media, you draw inspiration from a broad range of sources. Someone with a passion for and proven understanding of digital and social media platforms, with a good understanding of how audiences engage with multimedia content. Someone with a strong understanding of copyright, compliance and media law.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Quality Control: Review edits, scripts, and sound mixes with a meticulous eye, providing clear, actionable feedback to production teams.
- Compliance: You are the final sign-off. You’ll ensure every episode is legally sound and editorially rigorous.
- Talent and Partnership management: Act as the main point of contact for external commissioners, platforms, and high-profile talent across our slate. Building strong relationships with our talent is key to our shows' success and you will feel confident to deliver constructive feedback where necessary.
- Production Oversight: Manage the end-to-end production process for a diverse slate, including budgeting, scheduling, and high-level troubleshooting.
- Commercial Integration: Collaborate with our commercial teams to deliver brand partnerships that feel authentic to our audience and maintain the integrity of our storytelling.
- Cross-Platform Execution: Seamlessly transition between the narrative demands of long-form documentaries and the pacing of episodic podcasts or studio-based entertainment.
- Team Mentorship: You’ll work closely with our producers in an encouraging environment which challenges them to continuously experiment and improve upon their work.
