Forest has a thriving Music Department with around 35 Visiting Music Staff. Hundreds of individual lessons are taught each week and there is a busy schedule of concerts and recitals featuring choral, wind, brass, orchestral, rock/pop and jazz ensembles. Singing is a huge part of everyday life in the School: there is a structured Chorister Programme in the younger years, an auditioned Chapel Choir with multiple weekly rehearsals and several other choirs.

The Visiting Teacher of Singing will teach one‑to‑one lessons to our pupils across the age range of the School. They will be able to teach stimulating and challenging lessons that bring out the best in pupils at any stage of their musical development – from beginner level to the most advanced students who wish to pursue musical studies after leaving Forest. They will deliver lessons in a variety of styles with a high level of technical focus, including opera/art song and musical theatre. They will often prepare students for performance exams with an appropriate awarding body and support them in ensemble participation.

There are currently around two days of teaching – roughly 20 pupils – available for a suitably qualified and inspirational teacher.

Responsibilities include:

  • Communicating timetables to students prior to each lesson.
  • Recording accurate registers of attendance.
