Forest has a thriving Music Department with around 35 Visiting Music Staff. Hundreds of individual lessons are taught each week and there is a busy schedule of concerts and recitals featuring choral, wind, brass, orchestral and jazz ensembles. Additionally, there are both small and large-scale rock/pop concerts: House Music in October of each year, and Battle of the Bands in a high-profile external venue.
There are six rooms equipped with drum kits, including high-quality electric and acoustic kits. Many students book these regularly to rehearse with their own bands. Students have weekly lessons of between 20 and 40 minutes.
The Visiting Teacher of Drum Kit will teach one-to-one lessons to our pupils across the age range of the School. They will be able to teach stimulating and challenging lessons that bring out the best in pupils at any stage of their musical development. This includes beginner level to the most advanced students who wish to pursue musical studies upon leaving Forest. They will be confident in teaching a variety of styles such as pop, rock, jazz, Latin, funk, and other contemporary styles. They will prepare their students to take performance exams with an appropriate awarding body and support them in their ensemble participation.
There are currently around five hours of drum kit teaching available for a suitably qualified and inspirational teacher.
