St Margaret’s operates its own salary scale, and the successful candidate will be remunerated at the appropriate point. Subject to satisfying eligibility criteria, the successful applicant will be automatically enrolled into the STPS with the right to opt out; the candidate will have the alternative option of joining the school's DC arrangement. Further information can be obtained from the Head of Finance. Daughters of staff who attend the school will be eligible for a 30% remission on school fees after one year’s service. Applications are invited for the post of teacher of biology, starting on Monday 17th August 2026. The successful candidate will be a graduate with a proven track record of excellent teaching, an inclusive approach, and commitment to fostering a love of learning in all pupils. In addition to bringing ambition and vision for the learning and teaching of biology, the teacher of biology will be ready to contribute with enthusiasm to the wider life of the school. The department is lively and thriving. Results in SQA examinations have been very strong over a number of years attesting to the department’s high standards and innovative practice. St Margaret’s pupils regularly go on to study STEM subjects at university. Candidates should be GTCS registered or eligible for registration. St Margaret’s School places safeguarding of its pupils as its highest priority, and the successful applicant will be subject to appropriate qualification and registration checks. All employees at St Margaret’s are required to be a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups scheme. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to teach a lesson, which will be observed.
