Overview
Radley College is restructuring its Housekeeping Department to expand the team. We are recruiting for the following key positions:
- Housekeeping Manager – 37.5 hours per week, all year
- Caretaker Supervisor – 37.5 hours per week, all year
- Weekend Supervisor – 16 hours per week, all year
- Supervisor – 31.25 hours per week, term-time only
These roles are designed to strengthen leadership within the department, ensure high-quality service across all areas, and support the next stage of our development.
Responsibilities
The Housekeeping Manager will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team responsible for cleaning, waste management, minor repairs, event setups, and laundry services across school and commercial operations. Key duties include:
- Recruiting, training, and supervising staff;
- Organising rotas and schedules;
- Ensuring health and safety compliance;
- Managing budgets, procurement, and payroll;
- Monitoring staff performance;
- Maintaining up-to-date COSHH documentation;
- Providing ongoing training and arranging additional cover during holidays;
- Overseeing maintenance of cleaning equipment;
- Liaising with HR on staffing matters;
- Negotiating with suppliers for best value;
- Coordinating housekeeping support for events and residential lettings with the Commercial Team.
The role requires collaboration with internal teams and a proactive approach to delivering high standards of service.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing large cleaning or housekeeping teams, supported by relevant industry qualifications. They should demonstrate strong leadership, organisational, and financial management skills, with proficiency in IT and communication. A solid understanding of health and safety regulations and cleaning best practices is essential. The role requires a proactive, enthusiastic, and solutions-focused mindset, with flexibility to work varied hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Additional Information
