Are you a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young learners? Surbiton High Girls’ Preparatory School is seeking an EYFS/KS1 Teaching Assistant to join our nurturing and high‑achieving environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, helping pupils to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning during these crucial early years.
What you’ll do:
- Support pupils across the EYFS/KS1 curriculum, promoting engagement and independence
- Assist class teachers with lesson preparation, delivery and classroom organisation
- Deliver targeted interventions, including phonics and small group support
- Observe and record pupil progress, contributing to ongoing assessment
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils’ wellbeing and contribute to strong pastoral care
- Assist with co‑curricular activities, school events and educational visits
- Supervise pupils during key points of the school day, including break and lunchtime
What we’re looking for:
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) is essential
- Experience working with children in EYFS/KS1
- A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to use initiative
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
- Enthusiasm for education and supporting young children’s development
- Qualifications such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, ELSA training, or First Aid certification would be advantageous but are not essential.
