The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

Working 1:1 with a pupil with an EHCP, supporting them within the classroom and on a pastoral level. Daily management and supervision under the Head of Learning Support/SENDCo. Liaising with the SENDCo to complete formal documentation and paperwork regarding the pupil. Overseeing targets and plans relating to the pupil. Occasionally working with small groups in a flexible but supportive manner within class to help them remain motivated and access their learning. Delivering 1:1 targeted intervention in line with the student’s needs, as set by the SENDCo. Calming situations and providing a sympathetic ear to students, feeding concerns through the school’s pastoral and academic support structures. Awareness of the pupil’s medical needs and providing support where needed. Undertaking training related to the specific needs of the pupil. Occasionally working within the general classroom environment when the pupil is in an alternate activity. Meeting with students regularly to assist them in meeting the expectations of the school’s routines. Occasionally liaising with pupils’ parents, as agreed with the SENDCo and maintaining relevant notes. Assisting students with the production of their work on electronic devices. May be required to undertake a range of general support roles for teachers outside the Learning Support Department, as agreed with the SENDCo or Deputy Head Academic. May be assigned other duties by the SENDCo including administration, filing, photocopying, emailing pupils to arrange testing, and exam access arrangements within King’s Ely Senior School, when not working directly with the pupil. Role may be required to perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Head of King’s Ely Senior.

  • Strong commitment to promoting and enhancing the educational experience and personal development of children within the school environment.
  • Lively and energetic approach to working with children, balanced by the ability to sympathetically empathise with, support, and counsel children.
  • Attended previous training pertinent to this position (TA training, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ASD, and neurodiversity) is ideal.
  • Ability to inspire, guide, and be a positive role model to children.
  • Personal integrity and reliability.
  • Well-organised and able to prioritise tasks independently.
  • First-rate interpersonal skills and enjoyment of teamwork within a specialist setting.
  • Effective communication and prior experience of being a supportive member of a team.

Remuneration and Hours

Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm term time only. Start Date: September 2026.

Terms and Conditions

  • Enrolment in the statutory auto-enrolment pension scheme. The employer and employee contribution rates are Employee contribution 5% and Employer contribution 3%.
  • Members of staff may educate their own children in any of the three parts of the school or at Fairstead House, subject to availability of places and successful admissions procedures.
  • Staff currently enjoy a discretionary discount on fees for children in Reception year onwards.
  • The School offers a private healthcare insurance scheme, which staff may opt to join at their expense shortly after the start of each academic year (policy starts on 1st November each year). The scheme can only be joined at the start of the policy year.

  • Limited use of school gym facilities (during specific times) and use of the school swimming pool at specific times (during summer school holidays – small fee applies).
