Caretaker (2 days per week) in Chigwell

Woodford Green Preparatory School is looking for a reliable, practical and proactive individual with experience in caretaking, maintenance or facilities management to help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. Working as part of our site team, you will undertake a wide range of caretaking duties including general maintenance, site security, health and safety checks, supervising contractors and supporting day-to-day operational needs. Driving duties may also be required from time to time, although this is desirable rather than essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the school site is safe, secure, clean and well-maintained at all times.
• Undertake general caretaking, maintenance and site security duties.
• Support the day-to-day operational needs, including setting up facilities for school activities and events.
• Carry out routine health and safety checks and report any issues promptly.
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers and other service providers as required.
• Provide support to colleagues and assist with additional duties as directed by the Site Manager or Bursar.

About You

• Experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities or similar practical role is desirable.
• Reliable, proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and positive manner.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards and taking pride in your work.
• A full UK driving licence is desirable.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
