Sir William Perkins’s School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Director of Music to lead our highly regarded department on a maternity cover basis starting in September 2026. Our Music department enjoys an outstanding reputation both locally and nationally for its commitment to excellence.
Working closely with the Teacher of Music, the successful candidate will enhance all aspects of performance and co-curricular music, ensuring that students of every ability level are actively encouraged to reach their full musical potential. The ideal candidate will be a well-qualified specialist and an inspirational classroom practitioner with a proven track record of teaching music across all key stages.
Beyond the classroom, the role encompasses the planning and organisation of the department’s diverse programme of trips and tours, coordinating workshops, and overseeing the schools' visiting music teachers.

Sir William Perkins’s School is a high-performing, academically selective, independent school for approximately 600 students aged 11 – 18 years. The Head is both a member of HMC and GSA. It is located on an attractive 12-acre site situated on the outskirts of Chertsey, a two-minute walk from the railway station and very near to the junction of the M3 and M25.
