Stowe is seeking an ambitious, passionate and inspirational Head of Outdoor Education (and Adventure) to lead the continued development of one of the most distinctive elements of our co-curricular provision. Set within the extraordinary landscape of Stowe, our Outdoor Education programme benefits from outstanding facilities including a high ropes course, assault course and paddlesport provision, alongside extensive grounds and a unique natural environment. We want to build on this investment and create an ambitious programme that gives pupils exceptional opportunities for challenge, leadership, adventure, resilience and personal development.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced outdoor educator to combine strategic leadership, adventurous activity delivery and programme development with the opportunity to shape how Outdoor Education contributes to the wider life of the School.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Co-curricular, you will lead the planning, development and delivery of Outdoor Education across Stowe. You will develop a compelling long-term vision for the programme, ensuring that Outdoor Education remains a distinctive and strategically important part of the Stowe experience. You will identify new opportunities, develop progressive pathways for pupils and maximise the educational potential of our facilities, estate and natural environment. You will also play an important role beyond the School's core pupil programme, working with Stowe Enterprise Limited and external partners to develop visiting-school opportunities, holiday programmes, external courses, educational partnerships and commercial lettings.

To thrive in this role, you will be passionate about Adventure and Outdoor Education and have a desire to provide opportunities for all, championing outdoor education as a key part of any pupil’s educational journey. You will be dynamic, forward thinking and keen to inspire students to challenge themselves, become confident, resilient and capable Change Makers — developing leadership, problem-solving, collaboration and a love of learning alongside a strong sense of responsibility and wellbeing.
