Description

Our Senior Business Development Manager will lead and grow The Idol's new business activity by identifying, developing and securing new commercial opportunities across our insurance, annuities and technology services propositions.

The role will build strategic relationships with prospective clients and partners, understand their ambitions and challenges, and position solutions that The Idol can provide to meet their needs.

The role will be responsible for creating and executing a new business growth strategy, establishing a strong market presence for The Idol, developing new channels and partnerships, and delivering sustainable new business revenue growth through the acquisition of new clients and opportunities.

The role will work closely with colleagues across our business to shape compelling propositions and bring new opportunities to market.

  • Principles Accountabilities
  • Responsible for the day-to-day and strategic growth of The Idol's new business pipeline, ensuring delivery of revenue, partnership and commercial growth targets.
  • Lead the identification, assessment and pursuit of new business opportunities across The Idol's insurance, annuities and technology services offerings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients, partners and key stakeholders, developing a deep consultative understanding of their strategic objectives and challenges.
  • Ensure every opportunity is taken to communicate The Idol's expertise, innovation and value proposition to prospective clients and partners.
  • Identify and secure new commercial agreements and contracts which support The Idol's growth strategy, working with our Contracts Manager to negotiate these.
  • Develop opportunities within the wider Legal & General Group by building relationships and identifying new business, partnership and proposition opportunities.

Champion The Idol's technology capabilities in the market, raising awareness of our services and generating demand through networking, relationship building and industry engagement.

  • Work collaboratively with product, technology and commercial colleagues to help shape new solutions and propositions that meet market needs.
  • Engage the appropriate technical experts and business stakeholders in sales conversations to develop credible, tailored solutions for prospective clients and partners.
  • Build, maintain and manage a healthy and forecastable sales pipeline, providing regular reporting on opportunities, conversion rates and projected revenues.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer insight, ensuring opportunities and risks are identified and acted upon.
  • Work closely with marketing colleagues to support demand generation activities and the development of targeted campaigns in new and existing sectors.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Tech Partnerships to ensure a smooth transition of newly acquired strategic relationships into ongoing delivery and account management arrangements.
  • Consider, relevant to the role, the needs and objectives of all our customers, including vulnerable customers, to ensure that they receive good outcomes.
  • Knowledge, experience and qualifications
  • Proven experience identifying, developing, negotiating and securing new commercial opportunities and contracts.
  • Significant experience working within technology, software services and/or digital services environments.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering revenue growth through new business acquisition and strategic partnership development.
  • Experience operating within a consultative or solution-selling environment, with the ability to adapt approach to different client sizes and sectors.
  • Experience developing and maintaining senior stakeholder relationships across customer, partner and industry networks.
  • Experience working collaboratively with technical, product and operational teams to develop and deliver commercial propositions.
  • Experience using data, market insight and customer feedback to shape sales strategies and proposition development.

  • Scope

This is a full-time Monday to Friday role working an average 37.5 hours per week.

Hybrid flexible home/office working supported.

There is a requirement to attend the office in Cumbria approximately twice a month as well as travel for meetings with prospective clients, partners and stakeholders around the UK on a regular basis.

Salary in the range of £60,000 to £80,000 plus OTE Bonus depending on experience, 27 days holiday plus public holidays, plus performance rated bonus, enhanced pension, and generous private medical, family, sickness and insurance benefits, and share schemes.
