We’re looking for a Digital Production Journalist to join our growing digital publishing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the newsroom, shaping how our stories are structured, optimised, and delivered to audiences across platforms. This role involves publishing journalism that is timely, accurate, engaging and beautifully presented. You’ll be part of a dynamic and collaborative team led by our Associate Editor (Digital Publishing), helping us maintain high standards, improve publishing speed, and drive audience growth.

Responsibilities

  • Publish and optimise news stories, features, and analysis using CMS tools
  • Sub-edit copy for accuracy, clarity, consistency and SEO best practice
  • Apply structured templates to ensure our journalism is clear and engaging on all devices
  • Work closely with SEO, audience, and visuals teams to maximise reach and impact
  • Incorporate visuals and graphic elements to maximise audience engagement
  • Monitor analytics to inform editorial improvements
  • Collaborate on hero pieces and breaking news with a focus on quality and speed

Skills

  • Experience in digital sub-editing, production journalism or similar
  • Excellent grammar, editorial judgement and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with content management systems and digital publishing tools
  • Understanding of SEO principles and digital audience engagement
  • Ability to work quickly, calmly, and collaboratively under pressure
  • A keen eye for layout, structure and visual presentation
  • Journalism qualification or equivalent newsroom experience
  • Sub-editing at a national newspaper or website
  • Experience working with visuals or interactive storytelling formats
  • Knowledge of accessibility and mobile-first content principles
  • Understanding of SEO, social media engagement, and audience behaviour
