Hyde is looking for a Fire Safety Surveyor to support active fire safety works across our homes and communal buildings. This is a great opportunity to move into a client-side role where your technical knowledge will help improve safety, compliance, service quality and contractor performance for our customers.

About the Role

  • You will survey properties, prepare clear work specifications, review remedial works, oversee contractors and provide technical advice on active fire safety systems.

Key Duties

  • Check that active fire safety works, including fire risk assessment actions, repairs, cyclical and planned maintenance, meet legal, safety and quality standards.
  • Complete property surveys and prepare specifications, schedules, reports, drawings, tender documents and cost estimates.
  • Manage contractors and monitor performance against agreed service levels, quality standards and budgets.
  • Identify risks, defects, unsafe working practices and recurring issues, then recommend clear and practical solutions.
  • Work with customers, contractors, colleagues and external partners to resolve fire-related repairs, emergency issues and compliance concerns.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience as a Fire Safety Surveyor, Fire Surveyor, Fire Alarm Engineer, Fire Safety Engineer, Fire Risk Assessor, Fire Compliance Officer or Building Safety Surveyor.
  • Experience working with active fire safety systems, fire risk assessment actions, fire alarms, emergency lighting or similar compliance works.
  • Good knowledge of fire safety legislation, building regulations, Approved Document B and relevant guidance.
  • The ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers, contractors and colleagues.
  • A practical approach to solving problems, managing risk and making sound recommendations.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the role's mobile patch.

This is a mobile role, so regular travel will be required across the patch. Details of any car allowance, mileage, company vehicle or travel expenses can be discussed during the recruitment process.
