About The Role
As a Technical Surveyor (Fire) at Hyde, you will play a key role in ensuring active fire safety works are delivered to a high standard, meet legal requirements and provide value for money.
You will survey properties, prepare specifications, oversee contractors and provide technical advice to help ensure residents feel safe in their homes.
- Key Duties
- Ensure all active fire safety works, including fire risk assessment actions, repairs, cyclical and planned maintenance, comply with regulations, approved documents and performance standards.
- Carry out property surveys and prepare specifications, schedules, reports, drawings, tender documents, costings and estimates for active fire measures.
- Supervise and monitor contractors to ensure fire safety contracts, service level agreements and quality standards are delivered.
- Issue notices, variation orders, or enforce penalties where contractors fail to deliver to the required standard.
- Identify risks, defects, unsafe working practices and trends, escalating issues and recommending practical, value-for-money solutions.
- Work collaboratively with residents, contractors, colleagues and external agencies to deliver safe, compliant and customer-focused services.
- Respond quickly to customer needs, emergency callouts and fire-related repairs, ensuring clear communication at all times.
- Support Hyde's risk management framework, ensuring compliance with health and safety, data protection, and all statutory and regulatory obligations.

- Active fire safety knowledge - a good understanding of fire safety legislation, building regulations, and guidance relating to active fire systems.
- Surveying and technical skills - experience carrying out property surveys, preparing specifications, and producing reports, drawings, and cost estimates.
- Contract and project management - proven ability to manage contractors, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with service level agreements and quality standards.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills - able to identify risks, defects, and trends, and recommend practical, value-for-money solutions.
- Communication and collaboration - confident in working with residents, contractors, and internal teams, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and build positive relationships.
