Our Quality team plays a critical role in ensuring that every product meets the highest standards of safety, legality, quality, and compliance.
As Supplier Quality Assurance Technologist, you will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage supplier approvals, maintaincompliance documentation, support food safety systems, and drive continuous improvement across our supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the approval and ongoingperformance monitoringof raw material suppliers, packaging suppliers, and contract manufacturers, ensuringfullcompliance with food safety, quality, legal, and due diligence requirements.
- Maintain andcontinuously improvesupplier approval processes and systems, ensuringallsupplier records and documentationareaccurate, current, and audit ready.
- Review supplier specifications, technical documentation, certifications, and supporting evidence to ensurealignment with internal standards, customerrequirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Conductcomprehensivesupplier/ ingredientfood safetyrisk assessmentsas part of the onboarding and approval process, including VACCPevaluationandhorizon scanning activities to identifycurrent andemerging risks.
- Evaluate andinterprettechnical data to supportinformeddecision-makingrelated to food safety, quality, andcompliance.
- Ensure supplier/ manufacturer data is complete, accurate and readily accessible, supporting compliance withfood safety, quality and any certification requirements.
- Provide technicalexpertise to supportnew product development projects, ensuringraw materials and packagingmeet safety, legal and quality standards.
- Buildand maintainstrongsupplierrelationships, drivingcontinuous improvement initiatives to reduce complaints, minimisenon-conformances, andmitigatesupply chain risks.
- Analyse supplier performancemetrics, identifytrends, andgenerate meaningful insights and reports tosupport business decision-making.
- Support theongoingdevelopmentand optimisationof supplier compliance and approval systems.
- Contribute tointernal, customer, and third-party audits(including BRCGS, ISO, FDA, and other recognised standards), ensuring readiness and effective audit outcomes.
- Collaboratecross-functionally with Procurement, Product Development, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, and Qualityteams to drive alignment and ensurecomplianceacross the supply chain.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline, orequivalentfood industry experience in a technical rolein the food industry.
- Demonstrated experience in Supplier Quality Assurance, Technical, or Quality Assurance roles within the food manufacturing, nutrition, FMCG, or food industry sectors.
- Strongunderstandingof food safety principles, including HACCP, GMP, food hygiene regulations, risk assessmentmethodologies, and food industry best practices.
- Proven experienceinreviewing supplier documentationandspecifications, ensuring compliance with technical, regulatory and customer requirements.
- Experience conductingfirst and/or second party auditswith a structured risk-based approach.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems, with the ability to apply these in a fast-paced commercial environment.
- Strong analyticalcapability, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends, and support risk-based decision making.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships both internally and externally.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail andthe ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Able to manage multiple priorities andperformeffectively in a fast-paced, deadline-drivenenvironment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to utilise tools for reporting, analysis, and communication.
- Experience working withrecognised food safety and quality standards such as BRCGS, ISO, FDA, or equivalent frameworks.
- Awareness and practical understanding of TACCP, and VACCP principlesin relation to food defence and fraud prevention.
- Internal Auditor or Lead Auditorqualifications, demonstrating the ability to conduct structured and effective audits.
- Experience supportingor participating in external certification and regulatory audits.
- Experience within sports nutrition, food supplements, food manufacturing, or FMCG environments.
