About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive, experienced Interim Technical Manager to lead food safety, quality assurance, and compliance at our Omega site in Warrington – a key part of THG’s global Nutrition Manufacturing network. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in upholding the highest standards across our operations, ensuring that every product we produce is safe, high quality, and meets both regulatory and customer expectations.
As an Interim Technical Manager at Omega you will:
- Lead the site’s Food Safety and Quality agenda, fostering a culture of excellence and technical integrity.
- Own and maintain the Site Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with legislation, customer standards, and industry best practice.
- Stay updated on emerging regulations, trends, and customer requirements to keep standards industry‑.
- Embed proactive risk assessment and position the technical team as a trusted centre of expertise.
- Develop and manage KPIs to monitor, challenge, and improve site quality and food safety performance.
- Ensure all released product batches meet strict food safety and quality criteria.
- Prepare for, coordinate, and lead third‑party audits, including follow‑up actions.
- Provide quality support for new projects, including hygienic design, equipment specification, materials, and cleaning validation.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing technical team with regular reviews and training.
- Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and deliver effective corrective actions.
- Participate in internal and external audits according to the audit schedule.
- Drive continuous improvement and promote quality awareness across the site.
- Maintain high site hygiene standards to support compliant manufacturing.
- Provide clear direction and leadership, fostering accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
What skills and experience do I need for this role?
- A proven track record in Quality Systems Management and technical leadership within food manufacturing.
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline such as food science, microbiology, or product safety.
- Strong experience managing third-party audits and technical visits – ideally within a BRC‑accredited facility.
- Confident and capable people manager, with a passion for team development and coaching.
- Demonstrated success in driving quality improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Up‑to‑date and relevant Food Safety qualifications, including HACCP Level 3 as a minimum.
- Solid working knowledge of:
- BRC and ISO Standards
- QMS certification processes
- Retailer technical standards
- Food manufacturing processes and controls
