Role: Head of Ecommerce
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the UK ecommerce strategy aligned with overall business growth objectives.
- Own online revenue, profit performance, and commercial KPIs across all digital sales channels.
- Drive sustainable year-on-year growth through customer acquisition, retention, and basket value optimization.
- Identify new ecommerce opportunities, promotional strategies, and product merchandising initiatives to maximize revenue.
- Digital Trading & Website Performance
- Manage day-to-day online trading operations and website performance.
- Lead trading calendar planning including campaigns, promotions, seasonal launches, and product drops.
- Optimize website conversion rate through continuous A/B testing, landing page improvements, and UX enhancements.
- Ensure best‑in‑class customer journey from product discovery through checkout.
- Customer Experience & Conversion Optimization
- Improve overall website user experience, speed, navigation, and mobile commerce performance.
- Develop strategies to reduce cart abandonment and improve checkout conversion rates.
- Analyze customer behavior data to identify friction points and optimize funnel performance.
- Lead personalization initiatives to improve customer engagement and lifetime value.
- Performance Marketing Collaboration
- Partner closely with Paid Media, SEO, Affiliate, Influencer, and CRM teams to maximize traffic quality and conversion efficiency.
- Align acquisition strategies with onsite conversion goals and revenue targets.
- Evaluate channel performance and optimize marketing spend based on return on investment.
- Oversee digital merchandising strategy across product categories.
- Optimize product assortment, pricing strategy, promotional positioning, and inventory visibility.
- Work closely with category and supply chain teams to forecast demand and improve product availability.
- Data Analytics & Reporting
- Own ecommerce reporting framework and performance dashboards.

- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and develop high‑performing ecommerce, trading, and digital merchandising teams.
- Build strong cross‑functional relationships across marketing, technology, product, finance, and customer service.
- Mentor team members and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Manage agency relationships and external ecommerce technology partners where applicable.
- Work closely with engineering and product teams to improve ecommerce platform performance.
- Oversee ecommerce platform development roadmap and prioritization.
- Evaluate new ecommerce technologies, personalization tools, AI solutions, and automation opportunities.
- Ensure website stability, scalability, and security.
- Required Experience
- 8+ years experience in ecommerce, digital trading, or online retail leadership roles.
- Proven track record of scaling high‑growth direct‑to‑consumer ecommerce businesses.
- Strong commercial acumen with ownership of multi‑million‑pound online revenue targets.
- Deep understanding of ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento, or custom enterprise platforms.
- Experience managing performance marketing channels and understanding digital acquisition economics.
- Advanced knowledge of conversion rate optimization (CRO), web analytics, and customer journey optimization.
- Strong analytical capability using Google Analytics, Looker, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.
- Experience leading high‑performing cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.
