About the Role

Reporting to the Warehouse Team Leader, the Warehouse Operative is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate and efficient receipt, storage, movement and dispatch of goods across the David Berryman operation.

The role supports both production and customer requirements while maintaining the highest standards of safety, food safety, quality and stock accuracy. (DBL_Wareho... erative_JD | Word)

Working closely with colleagues across Warehouse, Production, Technical and Logistics functions, the Warehouse Operative plays a vital role in ensuring materials and finished goods are managed effectively throughout the supply chain.

As part of a fast-paced operational environment, the Warehouse Operative will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the achievement of departmental performance objectives while delivering excellent service to internal and external customers.

As a Warehouse Operative you will

  • Warehouse Operations
  • Receive, unload and verify supplier deliveries against documentation.
  • Store raw materials, packaging and finished goods in designated warehouse locations.
  • Pick, prepare and issue materials to production accurately and on time.
  • Prepare customer orders for dispatch, ensuring correct labelling and documentation.
  • Support inventory counts, stock takes and cycle count activities as required.
  • Maintain stock accuracy through robust inventory control practices.
  • Health, Safety & Environment
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures, policies and safe systems of work.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by reporting hazards, near misses and unsafe behaviours.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely and within the scope of training and authorisation.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment at all times.
  • Quality & Food Safety
  • Comply with GMP, food safety standards and warehouse operating procedures.
  • Accurately complete warehouse documentation, stock records and system transactions.
  • Follow FIFO principles and approved stock rotation processes.
  • Escalate product quality, food safety or compliance concerns immediately.
  • Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Support the delivery of departmental KPIs and operational targets.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve warehouse efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and site projects.
  • Report operational issues, stock discrepancies and non-conformances promptly.

What skills and experience do I need for this role?

  • Previous experience within a warehouse, logistics, FMCG or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Good understanding of warehouse processes, stock control and inventory management.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environment.
